What?!?

So, Carter had his upper GI today and what do you know... It didn't show any acid reflux. We are beyond perplexed on what is going on with this little guy. He seriously shows all of the signs of reflux, and nobody seems to know what else it could be. We have no idea what this all means, or where we will be going from here. Hopefully we can get some answers tomorrow. The good news is that Carter's therapist was very impressed with how much he's been taking on his bottle feeds, so she upped them to four times a day as long as we, she, or one of his primary nurses does it. I still think we're getting closer to going on a picnic, but I must admit that I feel a little frustrated today.

Mikey had a big day today too. He started T-Ball which I think he really liked, and he had his preschool program. I'm going to post pictures tomorrow.

The same thing happened with Nathan recently-he had the endoscopy/biopsy & no signs of reflux after 3.5 years but he definitley has shown all the symptoms as well as responding to medication. Its mystery?? I hope you get it figured out soon.

Hmmm...

Have they considered doing a pH probe test? I don't know if they do it on infants. Abby had one done to diagnose her reflux. They put a little tube with a probe on one end in their mouth and down their throat. It looks like an OG tube but it measures the pH in their esophagus to check for acid. I think it is normally a 24-hour test and should be done without meds. But like I said, I have no idea if they do this test on infants.

Continued prayers!

I already posted a lengthy note on FB but my boys both had basically normal upper GI's but had reflux and were treated anyway. They both responded well to meds. Also did they check for Pyloric Stenosis? It's very common in newborn boys and has spit up similar to reflux. This was our concern with Parker. He did not have it but my cousin did.
