It's A New Day

When we woke up this morning, we saw that the sun was shining which gave us the feeling that with a new day came a new hope. In comparison to the dreary snow that we saw yesterday, this was a welcome change.

We got to talk to the Attending doctor over Carter's case. She gave us a small glimmer of hope. It's a longshot, but it's enough to keep us going. Everything that she was saying fit Carter, and completely made sense. She believes that he just needs more time to heal before coming off the vent. In comparison to the talks we had with the doctors the night before, this one was very positive. Yes, we still need a miracle, but we've seen them happen before...after all, Carter is a miracle in himself!

We did not get a chance to talk to any of the ENT's today, but that's OK. We don't think that it would have changed anything they were doing with Carter anyway.

The plan for right now is to give him time...and keep him as sedated as possible. That little sucker has a lot of fight left in him, and does not like it when people mess with him.

We appreciate all of your prayers and support. I am overwhelmed by the huge response we have gotten on our blog and Team Carter page. We do feel the love that you are sending to us and to Carter. Thank you!

Hi little Carter,

I'm Isaac Grove's grandmother. Due to the journey that I and my family have been on ever since Isaac was born, I truly understand what you are going through. I remember those unforgotten days of being on my knees constantly, interceding for my grandson. He has also been a little fighter through all of his infections, entubations, tracheostomy, MRSA, and bipap. I am on my knees interceding for Carter as a pleading grandmother and friend. He reminds me so much of Isaac. love your "nice reminder" so much I had to make a copy of it. I myself am studying Special Ed. and will be working with special needs children after I graduate next winter. My heart goes out to Carter and all his family. Just know God is right there with you...always.

Prayers for all,
Debbie (GAMMY)

If you do indeed wind up needing a trach and would like to talk....I'd love to.

We've been where you are and for the same reasons.

I know that everyone's experiences are different, but I can honestly say that traching Parker was the best decision we ever made.

I am so sorry that Carter and you have to go through all of this. We as parents don't ever want to see our children suffer and would take the pain away immediately if we could. I have been busy, but I have been thinking about Carter and praying for him all day long. Get better soon. Be strong mommy and daddy!

I am so glad you were able to hold Carter yesterday. The pictures brought me to tears. I am still praying for wisdom for you and the doctors, and for a miracle for Carter. Prayers for comfort and peace, as well.

Still PRAYING!!!

Glad you were given a little hope!

Our Gavin was on a vent for a LONG time and we were told that he needed a trach and to be on a vent....this was 3 years ago.....and he is trach and vent free, still to this day!

Praying that this is the case for your sweet boy! Do you do regular breathing treatments on Carter at home? If so, which ones? After Gavin started certain neb treatments, he has done SO MUCH better!

I'll be thinking of you guys! Love, Hugs and Prayers!!!

We are still praying over here too. Glad the sunshine came out yesterday and with it a glimmer of hope for your sweet boy. He is so precious and beautiful and he is strong - we won't give up hoping for that wonderful miracle! Praying you will find comfort in the decisions that need to be made. Love and hugs to your family!

I have to say that this post has left me very teary-eyed. I am so fortunate to know you through blogland because despite a rough day yesterday, you have picked yourself back up and saw the sun shining...not everyone can do that. Your little boy is so lucky to be blessed with such a great Mommy and Daddy...

...keep fighting guys!!
